It may be a surprising fact that many coffee shop owners are not having enough revenue to cover their monthly operating expenses. They are hardworking folks, putting in long hours everyday but barely making ends meet. Unknown to many of them, they have created another job for themselves but they are very much ill-prepared to deal with the problems that may arise. Some of them are can even bring about financial ruins. On the other hand, there are also many critical success factors you must be conversant with.
Without fail, you will find that the mistake that people make is that they dream to big. Many new owners spend their money to fast on the wrong things. Do you know how to define your budget? Do you know what your critical costs are? How much money do you have? How much money do you need? Where should you allocate your money to ensure profitability? Do you need funding? Do you have a big enough budget to create your concept properly?
In short, a lot of coffee shop owners do not even have a budget. Many people have underestimated the budget necessary to carry out the concept they have in mind. If funding is an issue, it does not make sense to open the coffee shop in the first place. Secondly, you have to exhaust all avenue of financing if self capital is not enough.
